From the Editor: October 2025

I argue that the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s death reveals how white conservatives seek to control speech and silence truth. Kirk was an unfiltered racist whose words fueled hatred, yet after his death, many demanded his glorification. I condemn Donald Trump for honoring Kirk while ignoring Representative Melissa Hortman’s assassination—a blatant act of hypocrisy. I believe democracy is under assault, and I urge Americans to resist by speaking out, voting, teaching, and demanding accountability.
